Michael Corp Named New SBA South Carolina Deputy District Director

South Carolina-Michael Corp has been named Deputy District Director by Gregg White, District Director, for the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) South Carolina District Office.

As the Deputy District Director, Corp is responsible for providing effective leadership, management and oversight to optimize the deployment of SBA programs and services throughout the District. This includes providing access to capital, contracting opportunities and counseling. 

“One of our key goals is to continually improve all our processes to better serve our small business community. The more efficient our internal processes are, the more time we have to get out and serve our customers. We have an outstanding staff of professionals and strive to make the SBA the first stop for business assistance. We’ll continue to reach out to all communities whether in large cities or rural areas, to make them aware of the services we provide along with our resource partners such as the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) and SCORE,” stated Corp. 

Corp joined the SBA in Oct 2010 as a Business Opportunity Specialist with the South Carolina District Office and was promoted to the Lead Business Opportunity Specialist in June 2014.  

Corp served in the US Air Force for 21 yrs. Upon his retirement as a Senior Master Sargeant in 2003, he began his career as a civilian with the Department of Defense. He served as a Contracting Officer at Shaw AFB, SC.  Before accepting his current position with the SBA, he was assigned the Construction Team Lead at Shaw AFB responsible for the award and execution of multi-million dollar federal construction contracts. While in the military, Corp served in various management positions including the Superintendent of the Communication Squadron at Shaw AFB overseeing the maintenance of all air traffic control systems for the base. 

A native of Buffalo, New York, Corp holds a B.S. Degree Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University, Texas and a M.S. Degree in Management from Troy University, Alabama.  He also has taught part time college courses in Business, Management and Ethics.

He has been married to his wife, Patti, for 34 years and they have three sons and one grand-daughter.
