You're invited to the Burning of the Sock for the Spring Equinox.
Celebrate the spring equinox and the beginning of the boating season by burning those nasty winter socks! The 2nd Annual Sock Burning Party will take place at the Freedom Boat Club of North Myrtle Beach at Harbourgate Marina, Southport at the Southport Marina and Murrells Inlet at the Wacca Wache Marina from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, March 20th. This is the kick-off event for warm weather and a boating season of FUN with Freedom Boat Club.
The tradition dates back to the mid-1980’s, and has been commemorated by verse in "Ode to the Sock Burners" which will be recited as the first sock is thrown on the fire. Read more...
