Name: Learn about the History of the Museum of Coastal Carolina & Ingram Planetarium
Date: February 23, 2013
Event Description:
What kind of fish is that, mister?” A little boy asked Stuart Ingram that question many years ago as he was surf fishing on Ocean Isle Beach. In all likelihood, that little boy had no idea that his innocent question would later spur Ingram to establish a museum and a planetarium. Come to the Museum of Coastal Carolina on Saturday, February 23 at 11:00 AM and learn more about the man whose dreams and passion for teaching others about the environment, natural history, and the stars resulted in the creation of two wonderful facilities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages today. In this special tour of the Museum, you will take a close look at the some of the exhibits Ingram was instrumental in designing and building. You will also explore the Museum’s Ocean Reef Gallery, which Ingram designed with his wife, Louise, to gain a deeper understanding of life forms in the ocean reef off coastal Carolina. The tour will end with a stop at the Museum’s touch tank for a hands-on experience with some of the animals found living in our local canals or offshore.
