This is a two part series to be held on April 25th and May 3rd from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Session 1

Participants will be able to register as vendors with the City of Myrtle Beach.

*Participants should bring a fully-charged laptop or other mobile device.

Ann Sowers from the City of Myrtle Beach and Amy Leiter of Vendor Registry will lead a demonstration on how to access Vendor Registry, the online tool for vendors to register with the City of Myrtle Beach and access solicitations. After a demonstration, participants will be given time to log-in and register with hands-on support present to assist with any questions or concerns.

Participants will also be introduced to various concepts and requirements of a local government solicitation.

Ann Sowers will lead a section-by-section overview of the different parts of a solicitation package. She will discuss the importance of each section and how it applies to the overall process. William Furman will present an overview of the various SBA programs that are available to assist small businesses with meeting the requirements of the solicitation.

Session 2

Participants will learn how to apply basic contracting information from the local government session to federal contracts.

William Furman will lead a discussion on the differences between local and federal contracting, and how the SBA can help small businesses access federal contracts. He will cover the various SBA Certifications, how to become registered to do business with the Federal Government, and introduce helpful tools.

Robin Miller with the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) will present on the strategy and marketing necessary to win Federal contracts. This will include Capability Statements and websites available to help identify opportunities. In addition to the Small Business Administration, participants will be introduced to local organizations such as the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), the Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Each will offer information on how they can help in the contracting process.
