In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the SC Disability Employment Coalition is inviting businesses in South Carolina to build on their awareness of issues surrounding hiring people with disabilities. The South Carolina Disability Employment Coalition is an interagency collaborative working to address barriers to employment for people with disabilities in South Carolina. The unemployment rate is 70% for people with disabilities despite the fact that they make up 14% of the state’s population. Part of the solution to this problem is ensuring that support is available to employers in SC to help them navigate the issues surrounding this topic. For that reason, the SC Disability Employment Coalition is offering this event to help bring awareness to the issue and connect employers to the resources and agencies available to help them navigate this aspect of hiring a diverse workforce. Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and HR Certification Institute (HRCI) credit is pending.
